iblog: a Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

This week I took my first trip to Jackson Hole. It was pretty awesome! Jackson is a big and steep mountain with rugged terrain, even the blues are steep compared to hood. They have an aerial tram that gets you somewhere around 4k vertical feet, needless to say the runs are long. The ridding possibilities seem to be greatly enhanced by a fresh snow day, and we were lucky enough to get some.

This is also my first week with iPhone. I like it, though it has at least two problems I hate but that is for another post. All the pics were taken and edited on the iPhone, and this post was generated on it as well.

Democrats The Party of Lincoln………

Once upon a time in a land that use to be free, the Republicans referred to themselves as “The Party of Lincoln.”  I can only assume that is because it was the last nice thing the Republicans did for ‘Merica.  I doubt the modern Republican party would have freed the slaves. They most likely would have charged them with illegally entering the country and taking all the good jobs from our forefathers.  One of the modern political trends that I find most troubling is the massive polarization of the parties, and the shift of both parties to the right; this seemed to have began during the end of the Clinton years.  Apparently, even Richard “Tricky Dick” Nixon thought a shift like this could be problematic, and that was way back in 1959.   Yes if we have reached a point in our societal governance that would offend Nixon, it is safe to say we are all fucked.  Continue reading »

Resolution: Remember you have a blog and use it.

I hate getting out of bed, I don’t mind the morning, I just don’t like getting out of bed.  As a result I start most days by reading the news, on the google news aggregator, on my phone, then I check in on all you on Facebook, and then maybe get up and walk Reggae.  So I am a bit into news and politics. I have receded from Junkie status since I quit cable and can no longer suck at the tit of the Cable News Cycle. This is most definitely a good thing, I imagine my blood pressure is a lot lower now.

Where Have I Been: Occupying My Couch a Lament of the Ill

Wow…. So much to discuss since my last blog post, too bad my readers have such short attention spans, or rather I guess just Jesse Firestone has a short attention span. So I will try and summarize it all.

Lett us rewind. It is the week before Thanksgiving not a mouse is stirring, but unbeknownst to me a shit storm is on the horizon.  I had been out at Smith working the Project with my FSAM buddy Kov, minding my own business.  When wham!!! He came home deathly ill.  I got a bit sick from him and my epic Tooth Infection came back, I partly blame my weakened immune system.  It was around that time that I was trying to write a post about my thoughts on Occupy Portland.

“A blog without content is not a blog!” –Ryan Palo

Ryan directed this statement at me this morning, calling me out in the most public of Public Forums. No, not the street corner, Facebook. I don’t believe Ryan’s hypothesis is true.  A blog without content is merely an empty notebook waiting to be filled.  What I mean is… I haven’t had anything to say, so sue me.    Or rather, I have had things to say but I didn’t think anyone wanted to listen…err read.  Maybe I was wrong. Apparently at a minimum Ryan wants to read what I have to say (at least on his rest days in Kentucky, but only because there is a Goat shortage, or Matt is hogging all the Goats).

The potential topics seem to always cycle back to climbing, this is not necessarily where I want this blog to go.  I guess I could have published an amazing trip report about Smith last weekend.   Continue reading »

Welcome to the Blog

So I finally decided to take the plunge and make a Blog.  I know I have been promising (threatening) to do this for a while, so I hope it eventually lives up to your expectations.  I say eventually because currently I have nothing to say, or Kvetch about.  I know…sad, right? But the truth is I burned up all my brain cells trying to figure out how to set up this stupid WordPress thing.  Clearly WordPress is not a user friendly Apple based product.  I do hope that in the future this Blog brings us all great joy and happiness or at least a chuckle.

For now take a look around. The “About” page is up and running.  I also have a photo of the Dog under the photo tab.  Not like none of you have ever seen him before.  I expect in the future the Photo Tab may be eliminated.  It seems as though it is going to turn out to be cumbersome.  It is as though you can’t post posts to the page, but rather the page itself is one post.  Anyway don’t want to bore you to death on the first day. I also have links to “All the Friend’s Blogs,” so if i missed you it was certainly an accident, just e-mail me and you will be added.
